Planning, goodbyes, and hurricane prep! This week was full of surprises. We started fine-tuning our plans for the upcoming guidance parent night, and I started planning Dance Marathon. We said goodbye to our IB Coordinator Dr. Baldridge, and prepared our offices for Hurricane Dorian.
Planning
Guidance is very excited to announce our first ever Counselor Connect Expo! This will be a conference-style night for parents and students of all grade levels. Topics covered will include: IB Personal Projects, ACT & SAT, Bullying, Supporting Middle School Students, FOCUS Tips & Tricks, Mental Health Resources, Managebac & Volunteer Opportunities, College Applications, Getting Involved in School, Bright Futures & FAFSA, and Career Exploration. Students and parents will be able to choose the sessions they attend. Everyone will start in the Auditorium on September 26th at 6pm.
I am partnering with National Junior Honor Society and Arnold Palmer Hospital to bring Dance Marathon to Cocoa Beach. Dance Marathon is an amazing event that raises money for children who are sick. We will be dancing for children who can’t dance. We are in the very early stages of planning, so more to come on this at a later date!
Goodbye
This week we said a painful goodbye to Dr. Baldridge our IB Coordinator as she moved to another school. She will be greatly missed. Until we hire a new coordinator, IB students will be taken care of by their counselor. If you were only familiar with Dr. Baldridge, please see below.
